HomeMy WebLinkAboutLaurel Airport Authority Minutes 05.27.1997LAUREL AIRPORT AUTHORITY May 27,1997 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman John Smith. Members present were ; Bill Brennan , Bob Spannagle , Bob Western , and Roy Zahm. Guests present were; John Adams Jr.,Frank Felke ,Kent Potter ,Sharon andRandy Reiter,Dave Donavan and several others. Minutes of the previous meetin were approved as read. Bills presented were; Peterson and Schofield Yellowstone Valley Electric Northern Skies Aviation Trade Port Authority legal fees $ 1,220.00 powerbill $ 66.91 gasoline $ 57.37 loan repayment $ 3,351.43 Moved by Brennan,seconded by Zahm to pay bills.Motion passed. Resolution% R97-2 ,authorizing us to seek aloan from the State of $62,000.00 and a grant of $57,000.00.Motion to approve this Resolution w-as made by Brennan seconded by Zahm. Mmtion passed. An ~xtended discussion ~as held with John Adams (current tenant at Airport) concerning whether his duties are co~m~ensurate with his rent free status.When he moved in the mobile home at the Airport it w~s explained to him that he would be expected to take care of the park,help mew alomg runvays and taxivays ,assist with plowing snow when possible ,andlock the gate each night. Mr.Adams contends that his care of the park and locking the gate are so time consuming that that should suffice to pay the rent.Subject ~as tabled for further study.We will definitely have an agreement in ~rriting concerning this matter. Discussed the Skydivers lease for thier trailer and equipment.Dave Donavan agreed to pay $150.00 per year and maintain the sprinkler system in the park. Moved by Western ,seconded by Brennan to accept this.Motion passed with Spannagle dissenting. Land acquisition , still pending. We will install a ground rod and cable in the northeast corner of the apron for self fuelers. Still need patching on runways and taxiways.Will contact City Engineer. Continued Page 2 Will get truck repaired in August. We are still looking at a new or at least different mower.Stay tuned. A Mr.Weber asked if he could lease approximately 5,000 square feet somewhere on the Airport.This would be for a machine shop and would not be in the hangar area.The area north of Big Sky Aircraft along the road would make an excellent light industrial park for this type of business.We will investigate the possibilities.Many airports do have non aviation industrial areas and this could be a source of income for the Airport.
