Certain reports of the City of La~.rel were pr~~ented for approval a~ foll~w~s Report of the Polio Judge, grid r~port~ of the patrolmen. Motion was made by EbPr~viller and seconded by Blacl~ that these reports be approved. Motion carr3.ed. Paul G~~f1e anc~. several other b~.r oTaners appeared before the Co ed to req~~st that a portion of Ordinance 557 regarding d~neing end live mu~ie be repealed or amended. Bradley discu~ffied th~.~ matter at length. Blaek stated that he did not fa~1 that most of the Laurel re~id~nts would b~ it f~,v~r. The Mayor stated that in 195 the bar owners themaelve~ r~q~ae~t~d that live music be discontinued in L~ure1. officer Ler~hard~ stated th~~ h~ did not feel that the troubles at that time were all due to live mu~ie, beat par~ialZy due to not enough law enforcement. Yovetieh r~gu~~ted ~ vote of the Co~neil reg~rdir~g thy: feeling of the Council. Eberswill~r ~~ated that tie felt that ~ eommitte~ should b~ appointed. Gays was in favor of a ~ommitt~e. After discussion, tie Mayor then appointed Southworth a~ ehairm~,r~ of this co~rnnittee, Eb~r~viller and Edwards as eommittee member. Harald Gaston as ~%hief of Police, aid Paul Ghefle in an advisory capacity. Black reported that Garbage can$ arcs not covered i.n the mein alley . Black reported that the sweeper was not ruing often enough, and that ears are not off the ~tr~et at ~w~~pi~ time. Black reported on Athl~tie Park Lights, then ~.sked to b~ excused. The Mayor reported on hip meeting on the wrecked car situation. Minutes of the City Council of Laurel I~rs. ~'i~her requested perm sffiion to leave tt~e ~tat~ to be ~3.th her daughter who i~ to have emerger~ey mayor surgery. ~er~nission granted. ~e Mayor ~tat~d that he hid made a r~qu~st to the Attorn~ay C~n~sr~.l for ~n opinion on the contract, or agreement with the employees ~3an. He also stated that the Council should live up 'to the a.~reement anyway, arsd to settle the matter at a later date. Yovetich mentioned that the radio opera~iv~~ ~h.ould be included 3.n the rare. Sou~hworth aga3.n brought up the ~ub3eet of hedges and tr~~~ bei~~ an obstruction to vi~w~. Yovetieh brought up the question of s pamphlet which is very u~~ful. H~ thin made a motion, seconded bar Southworth that at l~as~ one copy be purchased a~ ~~.00 per copy. Motion carried.
