A regular meeting of the Ci~q Council of thy; City of Laurel, Montana, was held in the Co~a.ncil Chambers and way called to ord~;r by President of the
Council, Gerald Gasp, in the absence of the Mayor, at 7:30 4~c~ock, P.M., on
Tuesday, August 6, 1968.
Upon taking rol? eall~ the following Aldermen answered presents

~'h~ minutes of the regular meeting of July 16 were read. Motion was
made b~ Black and seconded by Ebersvill~r that the minutes be approved ~s read.
Motion ~arri~d.
Minutes of the special meeting of July 18 ~rere read. Motion was made
by Southworth and secand~d by Black that the minutes be approved as read. Motion
carried.
Minutes of the special meting of July 25 were re~.cl. Motion ~a~.~ made
by Black and seeond~d by Jon~~ that the minutes be approved as read. Motion carried.
C,~rtain reports of the City of La~ar~l were presented for approval as
follows. Report of the Police Judge, and reports of the Patrolmen, motion was
made by Ebersnil2er and seconded by Black th~.t these reports be approved. Motion
carried.
Citg Treasurer's financial report was presented. Motion was made by
Bl~.ck and secanded bq Ebersviller that this report be approved. Motion esarr3.ed.
Claims for the month. of July were presented for approval as follows:

Motion was made by F'bersvill.er and seconded by Black that these claims be a.llow~:d.
Motion earri~d.
Mr. dam Mourieh appeared be~for~ the Council with a request for sprinkling
on Washington Avenue to the school property, and presented the Council with a
petition. Motion was made by Southworth and seconded by Eb~rsvill~r that this petition be accepted. Motion carried.
Eber~vill~r reported that the meting of the Police Committee and the
Auxiliary Police hid been postponed.
Chief of Police Gaston requested permission to leave the Stag . Matic~ was made bar Ebersville~ and seconded by Black that perini~sion be granted. Motion
carried.
Alderman Joni s reported that: h~ had checked with t h~ Legion Club
about cleaning up the grounds after games. He ~tate~ that nothing h~,s a~ yet
been decided, but that he will keep working on this.
He also stated that the City of L~.urel was mentioned in the Montana Automobile Association paper as being one of thy: cities in Montana haQing no
traff3.c deaths in a number of ye~.rs.

this me~ti.ng.
Dale~r reported that Ed Fox had been called for fury duty, and reques~~d
that the City pay him the c~iffer~nce in hip pay betw~~n fees received for this
duty, and his regular wage . Motion. way made to this effect by Black and
seconded by Ebersviller. Motion carried.
Daleyr~ported that there was a ma.ehine available for making str~~t sins. mhis could comp from the Street Budget. After discussion, motion was
made by .~bersviller and seconded. b~ Black that we offer the ~17~.00 asked for
this machine i~ it is in good workable condition. Motion carried.
Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
Daleq asked permission to leave the State for tin days. Motion was
made by Yovetich and seconded by Jones th~.t permi~~ion be granted. Mahon
carried.
City Attorney r~port~d on weedy and undersirable prc~p~rty to be torn
down.
Ga,ss.rep~rted that Jams Peterson who works on the pity crew is also
the grave digger at the Cemetery. H e Mates that the mortuaries are complaining that in some cases they have to leave someone at the grave site for quite some
time until Peterson gets off work at !t o'clock befdr~ they can leave. After
discussion, mfltion was made by Yovetich and seconded by ~'bersviller that
Peterson be released from the City fob so that he can fill in the gr~.ve. He is
to be paid only his actual time while working on the ~Gity job,, since he receives
a flat fee of X30.00 for opening and closing a grave. Motion carried.
Them being no further business to camp before the Council at this
time' the meeting was adjourned at 8:10 P.M.~ due to the fact ~h~t Aldermen
Yovetich and Southworth had nothing to report.
