Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
D~eember 17, 1968
A regular meeting of the City Gotu3cil of the City of L~.Ure1, Montana, was head in the Council Chambers and called to order by Mayor Kenneth Olson at
7:30 o'clock, P.M., on ~uesda~, Dece,~nb~r Z7~ 1968.
TJpon t~ki.ng roll call, the following Aldermen answered present
Walter Parker Richard Black Louis Yovetich Ray Horning i
E. H. Ebersviller, Sx~. Jim Southworth Lyle Jones
Minutes of the previous reg~z].ar meeting were read. Motion was made
by Black and s~eonded by Southworth that the minutes be approved as read.
Motion carried.
Cash Report, C1erk~s Trial Balance, and `treasurer's Report were
presented. Motion was made by Ebersviller and ~eeonded bar Black that the reports be approved. Motion carried.
~w A lett~;r was read from ~h~ Montana Leag~ze of Cities and Tc~wn.s
stating there would be a meeting in Helena December 20, 1968, ~-th the I~
State Highway Department for the purpose of new le~;;islation, Motion way
made by Southworth and gee aided by Black that the Mayor be alls~wed to attend I this m~seti.ng. Motion carried.
~1r. Ed Stowe and Dr. Schoenthal addressed the Council with a report
on the proposed Air Pollution Program for Yellowstone County. Mr. Stowe
stated that Billings and Yellowstone County had agreed to contribute $2,fl0~.00
each to th~.~ program. N1r. Stcywe asked the City o~ Laurel to contrib~zte $200. 0
to the program.. He added that a ~ellow~tone County Air Pollution Policy Board would be set up and at least one member of the board would be a ~nepresentative
from Laurel. After discussions Ebersviller made the motion that the City of
Laurel participate in this Air Pollution Program. Parker seconded and the
motion carried.
The meeting with the Mayors of Golumbus and Big Timber about their garbage situation way postponed because of illness.
`here was discussion on char~~ing R-3 to R-!~. A letter was read from
Mr. Chaxles DeFoe requesting the Council ~o over-ride the deci~~ion of the
Zoning Board and alZaw hi.m to construct his traa.le~ on certain property.
It was ~tatec~ that the Zoning Beard wants the Council to change the Zoning
in this particular area instead of granting a variance to Mr. DeFoe. the Ma~Tor Mated he had appointed a committee o.£ Gass, Daley and Jones to cheek
into the matter and have a definite solution by next meeting.
Yovetieh stated that he thought the Council should go on record
o~ protesting tha article in the Outlook against the Water Depa~tmen~.
There being no further business to come before the Council at this
time, motion was dull made and seconded that the meeting be adjourned. Motion
carried.
