Qlaon, ~t 7.3~ ~~cloak, P.M., on '~u~sday, May 21, 196$. Upon taking roll call, the fallowing Aldermen answered present: falter Parker Richard Bl~ek Louis Yovetich H. Ebersviller, Sr. James SouthWOrth I,y~le Jones ~h~ fij.ALl't68 of the previous regular meeting were read. Motion was made b~ Black and seconded by Eber~viller that the ~in~.tes be ~,ppro~ed as re~ei. Motion carried. B~ac~C ~~d~ the emotion that the Treasurerts Fin~nci~.l Report b~ approved. Parlor seconded and the motion era~rried. Black ~ad~ the motion and E~~rsvillEr seconded that the April Library Report be approved. Motion carried. Police Chief, Herold Gaston, requested per~igsian to leave the State. Ebersviller made the ~otior~ end Bl~.ek seconded that permission be granted. Motion carried. Mr. Grant Lawyer addressed ~h~ Council with a petition ~ign~d by ~/3 o~ the property owners petitioning the pity to blacktop West 7th Street between 6th end 8tP~ Avenges. After discussion, Yavetich made the motion that if wE get the County to participate, with their help w~ go ahead and blacktop these blocks. Parker ~econeled and the motion carr3~d.. The Mayor ~r~lco~ed the 8ttad~nt ~Citg pfficials ar~d a~k~d Student Mayor, Bob Crow, to introduce the rest of the Student ~it~ ~o~ncil which he did. Yovetieh reported on the pragres~ of the wat~:r reservoir. Yovetich reported on the meeting with a young peapl~$ group at the Episcop~i t~urch. Yovetich reported that the drain ditch i~ looking better. Yovetich reported he thought we should start a calling list for the Senior Citizens. They should be called daily ~o see how they are ge~tic~g Tong. It was mentioned this could possibly be a pro3ect for on~'.4~ the local eonamunity club . Yovetich ~ad~ the motion that a letter of c ~nda.tion b~ gent to NJr. & Ntrs. TnT. J. Williams ~.nd their son Tom whc~ won first prize in an ~leven- ~tate aria contest for hip paper on electricity. Eber~viller se~ond~d the motion. Motion carried. Parker reported h~ had complaints that the spray being used for ~o~gt~i~o~a is killing trees and shrub. ~i~ ~~tter was referred to the ~itg Engineer who will try to get publicity as to tl~e cc~~tenta~ of the spray, and its eF~eet on trees and shrub. Parker r~pnrted he h~.d a compl~i.nt from ~ propertp owner on Railroad Street who hay cleaned hip ditch, but is a mess again because of p~opl~ throw~.n litter into it. Parl~er is to ch~el~ with ~o~ BrAdle;~ to gee if any action can be taker. Ebersviller made the motion that the ~Cit~r ~oun,cil go on record a~ still favoring the Frontage Road. Blaels seconded and the motion c~r3ed. Ebersviller reported lie had comp~a~.nts about dogs tipping over gs~rbage cans. It was the opi.rlio~ o~ the council that the people with complaints should make a formal co~pZ~.int to the Polio Department or ~'om Bradley. Eber~viller reported that the ditch West of tokrn looks better. Black ~sta~ed that no action has been taken by the Po1ic~ Department about issuing ~aa~rnings to owners off' uncovered garbage c€ins in the downtown areA. Yovetich added action dad begin taken because he had received a complaint from an owner about receiving ~ warning. Parker made the ~aation that Joe Niche?la~ be appointed City el~etrie~.l and pltunbi~ inspector, until such tine as he is appointed by the State. Yovetich s~c4nd~d and the motion carried. Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Parker commended Lyle Jones for the good fob he did with the pool and students working at the pool last summer. Lyle Jones reported on the condition of the ~swiin~ pool. So~thwor~h reported he had a eonplaint about the deed trees at Riverside Park. Daley reported that a certain p~.rty would like to clean up ~ lot on 5th street and Forrest A~en~~ put ~ trail4r house on the lots bttt this would cause a problem because trailor hou~e~ do not ~~set the approe~.l of our el~etrical code ~.nd our ordinance prohibiting trailor~ within the City Zi~its. After discussion, the Mayor appointed the electrical board to study the matter of the ~l~etric~.l wiring of thy: traitor 2~0~~~ and the ls~ Ward Aldermen to study the problem of the i~idividual housing. The Mayor asked D~.1eg ~o have the crew to repair and paint the trash cans on Main street.
