Ebersviller, Sr. des Southworth Thy minutes of the previ.o~.s ra~~ting were read. Motion was made by Parker and ~eeonded by Ebers~i.ller that the min~,tes be approved a~ read.. Motion carried. Cards of thanks were read f~c~~n t~~ Roy Edwards and Les Stoltz family for the flowers aunt them. Motion way made by Black and ~ecor~d~d by Gass that the~~ r~port~ be approved. Motion carried. thief of Police G~.ston, Clinton Anderson, and Police Judges r~porta were presented. Mention carried. 3'he Ma~ror then called ors Ald~rsnan Gass, since this wag the time and place for nominations for a p~r~on to fi11 the unexpired term of Roy Ed~rards who passed array last month. Mr. Crays then nominated Lyle Jones, and ~ir~ee there ware no other nomination, Parker m~.de the motion, seconded b~ Black that Mr. Jones be elected b~ voice vote. Motion carried and Mr. Jones was elected unanimously to fill the une~ired term a~ Alderman from the S~eond Ward. Yovetich reported that the water committee had had mse~ing regarding Water Revenue, and we~uld recommend rai~sin~ the irrigation rate double th~.t which i~ w~,a since 1933. Public Service Co~ruunission way requested to grant this xai~e bar phony, which way done. Fublic Service Commission stated that written psrmi~~sion would be received by the City bEfor~ the ~w rate take effect. After discussion, motion ~a~ made: by Ebersvill~;~ and ~econd~d by Black that the recommendation of the Water Committee b~ ~.cc~p~~d. Mention c~xried, with the incr~ag~ being placed in one assessment on the M~.y water bi11. Yov~tich suggested that the City* Clerk ~,rrite l~tter~ to the six young people who qualified from Zaural to take the scholartie bests in ~lis~oula, ~i.~h font o~ th~am coming horns with honor. Bradley states that there must be notice given, and a hear3.ng held. H~ will prepare a resolution of intention to be publi~h~d. H~ st~.ted that since h~ did not knoe~ an~rthing abort this, he asked that this matter b~ contin~.~d to the next meeting so that he can prepare the papers. Parlor stated that the Citg Treasurer, ~~annett~ Schmidt, had a~k~d for a ~~~.00 per ~on~h increase, s3ncs ahe is allowed to earn more now. After di$eu~~ion, it was the opinion of the Council that this matter b~ considered at the next budget time, and any recom~n~ndation for an increase be made retro-aetiv~ to July 1, 1968. Blaek reported that Leonard Zarnb had been approved as a member of the Laurel ~'elun~te~r Fire Departments a~ of April 17, 1968. Motion made by Eber~vill~r and seconded bar Parker to approve this appointment. Motion carried. i Bl~.ek Mated that ~ 7.etter should be written to the St~t~ Eleatric~,l Board regarding the jm~nediate appointment of Joy l~ichola~ a~ ~ St~.te In~p~ctor. He made this in the foran of a motion, ~~conded b~ Parlor and the motion carried. Minutes of the City council of Laurel Southworth reported on tMe Nutting drain diteh. Thia matter should be referred to Herold Knaub and the Drain ~mrni~~ioners. Southworth reported on a mating of the ec~mmittee of the Citi~en~ for ~Cammunity' d~velopm~nt that h~ €~ttended. Black brought up the s~zbjec~ of zanc~vered garb~.ge cans. Chief of Police is to check these cans ~~peci~ll~ in the downtown area, and i~sac~ aarni~gs. Thy Mayor asked the City Clerk to write lst~~rs of cor~dol~nc~ to the Stoltz ~.nd Edwards families. Report of Lyle dons regarding the functioning of the Swi. ink Pool and the Recreation program for they summer was presented to everyone. Item ldo. 1 w~.~ di~cu~sed and it was the general opinit~n of the Council that son~~ aompen~ation b~ allo~r~d for the Director of this program, any way• the Magor asked that the entire Park Co~nmitt~e, and ~s y other A1.d~r~~n ~s possible attend the Recreation Board meeting on May lbth. The Mayor reported briefly on his trip to Great Falls, and ~tat~d that he way supposed to rec~3.ge a transcript of the entire proceeding, but that it has not het arriged. He will report further wY~en he gets this information. H~ a1~o stated that he felt that the Latarel Chamber of Com~er~e should also send a delegation to these meetings.
