Motion was made by Ebersviller and seconded by Be~lanwitch that the reports be approved. Motion varied. Health ~ffi~esr's report was pr~s~nt~d. Motion was made by Horning and seconded by Jackson Parker that the rept~rt be ~.pprs~ved. Motion c~rri~d. Polio Judge report was pr~s~nted. Motion was .made by Walter P~.rker and seconded by Lyle Jones that the report be ~.pproved. Motion carried. A letter was read from the Zoning Board of Adjustment Mating that the va:ri~nce f'or Mr. Ralph Hatch an his proposed building b~ d~ni~d for Zack of documented information on the buildin~~. Motion was made by Eb~r~viller and seconded by Beslanwitch ghat the report of tY~e Zoning Baard b~ accepted. j Motion carried. Mr. Ralph Hatch addressed the Council st~,tin~ that h~ had to have approval from the Council to bu31d the d.upleac before he would go to the expense of h~.ving plans drawn up. Mr. Hatch will make axe appeal, in writ3.ng, to the Council to over:ride the d~cis3.on of the Zoning Board. Mrs. Duncan and Mrs. Cols representing the Laurel ~'ed~rated Womans Club addressed the Council ~~~.tin~ that had a new proposed plan for a better lighting district in Zaurel. The Mayor appointed the Li.~ht Committee to work with these ladies. Roy Horning is to take the place of Gerry Gass on this Gommi~te~. Smokey Staud3.nger ~.ddr~~sed the Council with a complaint of people burning garba€~e after the alloted time. Tt was the Council's information that as of the 1st of July the!Stat~ Board of H~~lth is di~eontinuing burning of any kind. Horni.n~ reported the dog catcher is doing s good fob. Jackson Parker reportesd on the Laurel-based ambulane~ service. He stated they are Mill working on the pro,~ect. There way mention of i possibly a.sse5~in~ 1 mill to help pay for the service. Another possiblity is that the feder~.l gov~rnm~nt would match funds up ~o ~7~. Lyle Jon~~ reported there ~r~ li~ht~ out in 'Thompson Park near the pool. The Park Co ?itte~ w3.11 take ~ar~ of this matter. Jones r~port~d these i~ a leak in the Swimming pool. John Daley will check into the mater. EberSVi.~ler reported that the empla~~~s had derided that uniform service for City employees way too exp~n~sive, bizt the matter will be discussed at budget time. Eb~rsvill~r reported that new legislat3.on provided City employees who have 1~ gears of service to r~ceiv~ 1 da~rs vacation per month, 18 years service will receive 3 3/l~. d~.ys vacation, anc~ 20 years service wi11 receive 2. days vacation per month. He st~.ted that Dick Metzger ~,nd Kenn~~h Bevan started working for the City and then were called into the Armed Forces after which they returned to thEir fobs with the Cit~r. Ebersviller made the motion and Besla~witch seconded it that Met2g~r be credited with service from October, 19l~8~ and Kenneth Beven be credited with ~srvice from M~.y ~3, 19v~~• Motion carried. `~h~ Mayor Mated h~ appointed John Beslan~ritch as United Nations Day Chairman for Laurel. United rations Dad is October 2l~. Yovetich reported that the water committee reQOmmended r~i~e in water rates for outside users of ?5¢ per monthrv.and -~h~ Northern Paeifia arad R~finer~r water rates b~ raised 13~. Walter Parker mad~.the motion that these raises be approved, and approval be obtained from the Public S~rviQe~ Commis~it~n and the out~id~ users notified of the raise.
