Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
May 24, 1969
A r~~ular meeting caf the City Council of the City of Laurel,
Montana, was held in the Council Cha.~bers end was ca].l~d to order by Mayor
Kenneth 01aon, at 7:30 o'clock, P.M., on Tuesday, M~.y 20th, 1969.
Upon taking roll ca11, the Following aldermen answered pre~en~:

The minutes of the previous meeting wire re~.d. Motion way mach by
B~sl~nwitah, and seconded by Ebersviller that the minutes b~ approved as
read. Motion carried.
A list of offi~~r~ of the Voltz~teer Fire Department, and the
Firemen's R~li~~ Association was presented and read a~ follows:

Motion was made by Ebersviller and ~~conded by Jones that ~hes~
officers be approved. Mo~Gion carried.
Thy Mayor Mated that he had fvrgott~an to appoint H~.rflld S. Collins
as Chief o~ the Auxiliary Police, ar~d did ao at this time. Motion way made
by Ebersviller and smconded by Bc~~lanwitch that this appointment be approved.
Nation carried.
Letter way read from the Zoning Board of Ad~u~tment regarding
fencing as follows:
` The Zoo g Boyd of Ad~u~tment recommends that then secatzon of
Ordin~n~e #508 concerned with the fenein~; be amended.
We propose the following amer~dment~ or change :
1. That a fence that does not block the view (3.e. Chain
Link) be allowed to be placid on the property line with no re~triction~ or height. That no p~r~nit w5.11
be i~~u~d ~rhiah will cause a safety hazaxd.
2. That ariy~ fend that blocky the v3.ew cannot be placid
closer th~,nn ten (10) feed from any intersecting street
er alley.
Motion way made b~* Eber~v311er and ~eeondesd by Jones that the
recommendation of the Zoning Board by approved. Motion carried.
Report of then Health O~fia~r way pre~~nted. Motion way made by
B~slanwi.~ch and ~econdcsd by Parker that thi.~ r~aport b~ approved. Motion
carried.
C3.ty C1~rk made a brief report en the Garbage ~ituatien, and they
new ~.~~~~~~ent~. Parker ~~ated ~ha~ a comtni.ttee frcun the Council should
be a~paiMted to go and t~.ll~ to the Counter Cc~mmi~~ioners.
~avc~ Murray and Ralph Hatch appeared before they ~ounai]. again in ~
regaz'd to passiblea building of duplexes on bloek~ two and three in Mount~.in ~Ii~~~. Subdivision. Hatch presented some blue prints and again a~k~d ~uat

1969, after a motion duly made and se~ond~d, the following resolution of the
Cit~r CounQil was unani~ousl~r adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED: That the pity of Red Lodge ~ v~ its consent
to Crest Co., Inc., and its suec~ssors, to hook on to and use
the City'a water and sewer facilities on the real.. property
hereafter described, which is the site of a projected condomini
~,paxtm~nt-motel. I

After much discu~~i.on Dave Murra~r v~rb~.lly petitioned the Cit~r Council
to bring in ~31ock~ One, Two and Three of the M~unt~ia~ Vista. subdivision,
with the undesrstanding ~th~.t if the proposed building project -.fell ~.hrough that he e~uld ag~.in petition the eour~cil to tale this property bask out
of the C3.ty yimi~s. With this problem in mind, motion wasp made by Pa~rl~er
and seconded by Bes2an~ri.tch that this verbal p~t3.tion b~ accepted, and in
this coxinection Resolution Ato. 13b0 was pres~nt~d:

Jones asked for a report on the temporary dog quarantine. ~~.1ey re.portead that none. of the min wanted the ,job of dog warden. G~.s~on
reported that ~inc~ there had begin sane misunderstanding to the date of
the quarantines the police had not begin too tough in the picl~ing up of dogs.
Beslanwitch Mated that he wanted they ordin~.nce strictly ~:nforced.
Thee being no further busin~~~ to comp before the co~~i1 at this
