Minutes of the City Council of Laurel

.4 regular meting of the City Council of the City of Laur~1, Montana, was held in the Council Chambers, and way called to order by Mayor
Kenneth E. Olson at 7x30 o'clock, P.M.,, on Tuesday, October 7th 1969.
Upon taking roll call, the following aldermen answered presents

Thy minuses of the previous meeting of Septemb@r 16~ 1969, were
read. ~Yavetich desired that the minutes reading; "one-ham the a11ey south of
the bank to b~: designated one way traffic from West to East'f, to read 3.nstead
rbne-half of the en-~ire ally to be designated as one-way traffic .from West to
East'F. Motion was thin mac~.e by Beslanwitch and seccand~d b~ Jones that the minutes be approved as corrected. Motion c~.rri~d.
C~rt~.in reports of the City of Laurel, Montana, wire presented for
ataprov~l as follows: City Glerk~s cash report, Glerk's trial bal~.nce~ Library
re~aort, report o~ the Police Jud~~i City Treasurer's financial report, reports
of~the policemen;, and the report of the sanitarian. Motion was made by Eb~rsvillc~r and seconded by Jones that these reports be approved. Motion
carried.
Letter was read from the Yellowstone Bank regard3.n~ their request-for
one-way traffic south of the bank. The Mayor then asked the committee for a
report. Roy Horning stated that it was the eommittee~s recommendation that this request be denied. Mr. Leuthold and Ray Stevens ~,ppe~r~d before the
Council to ask that the council possibly reconsider at a later date. After
much discussion, motion was made by Ebersviller and seconded by Jackson Parker
that the recommendation of the committee b~ accepted. Motion carried.

Cs~ntlemen.
The matter of the caretaker's house and ground upon which it is located has been previously brought to your attention.
Mr. John Daley end Mr. Louie Yovetich have ec~nferr~d with a
member of the 33eartooth board of directors. Some suggestions were made as
to settlement. .After consultation with other boaxd members, it was agreed
to ask .you the same pries for the land that Beartooth has begin asking .for land; namely, u.10 (ten cents) per square foot.
TnTc~ feel it is only fair for the City to pay the going price far
the land.

Reports were made on this situation by the City Engineer, City
Attorney, and various-"others, After discussion, the Mayor turned this matter
over to the Cemetery Baard, to meet with the City Attorney.
I,~tter was read from Senator Mansfield regarding the ambulance situ~.-
tion. Jackson Parker reported on a meetinff that he attended. He stated that we
are re-submi~tin~ our application b~cau~e there are certain changes to b~ made.
A Mr. Paul ~r~Tilhelm appeared before the Council to report on the
sewer problem of sewa.g~ backing up in his basement. After diso~ssion, motion way duly m~.de and seconded that this problem be taken care of. The sewer in
question is between yellow tone and Woodland Avenue in Block 10 of Yellow-
stone Subdivision. Motion carried. In this connections resolution No. 1373
was pr~5ented as follows:

to City Engineer and the City Attorney, for report at the next me~tin~.
~ Letter was read from Frank Harrison, ~e~?arding some plumbing repair at
f the Mildred Harrison property. City Clerk way directed to write a l~tt~r to
~ TZr. Harrison Mating that the City eoul.d not enter into and di~put~ between a,
property owner and a contractor. 7
Lyle Jones r~~orted on the City County Azr pollution committee. State
Boaxd of Health Offic~.~.ls are hopeful citi~:s and count,i~s will pass laws ordinances governing the regulation of burning, these in turn would be inforced
i° by the S.B.H.

x Beslanwitch asked if it wo~1d be possible to burn leaves. H~
stated that something would have to be done. Ma~ror Olson said if you once
let the people burn they will burn more than ,just leaves. After much ~ discussion it was decided that if the leaves were: put in some kind of a
container that the ~arba~;e men would pick thorn up.

Yovetich reported that the firs p1u~ situation on Laurmac Lang has
been taken c~.r~ of.
Yovetich asked where the information came from about the article in the paper coneernin~ the patrolmen. CxaSton stated tha-~ information did not come
from the department, but from the editor himself. Gaston said that if the
police have any grievances, the council would be notified ~hrou~h proper
channels and nit through the news media.
There being no furth~;r business to come before the council at this session, motion was d.u3y made and seconded that the m~etin~ be adjourned.
