A regular meeting o~ the City Council of the Gity ~f Laurel, Montana,
was held in the Council Char~b~r~ and ~all.ed to order by Mayor Kenneth E. OZson~ ~i'
at 7:30 o'clock, P.M., on Tuesday, April 15, 1969.
Upon taka.no roll call, the following A:lderrnen'answerecl present:

Minutes of the previous meting were read. Motion wa.5 made by
Eb~rsviller and seconded by Black that the Eninutes b~ approved with the change
that the Police Jude be given a $3 .00 a month raise for clerical purpog~s. Motion carried.
Library Report was presented. Motion was made by Black and seconded by
Ebersvill~r that the report be apbrov~;d. Motion carried.
County Sanitarian's repflrt was pr~sent~d. Motion way made by d ond~d b Black that the re ort be a Aroved. Motion carried. Ebersvill~r an sec y P A_
Police Judge report was presented. Motion was made by Ebersvill~r
and seconded by 131a.c~ that the ,report be approved. Motion carried.
City Clerk's Cash Report, Trial BalaMee, and Treasurer's Financial Statement ~~r~ presented. Motion was made by Black and seconded by Jones that
the reports be approved. Motion carried..
Black made the motion and Ebersviller seconded that the el~~tion
judges and clerks b~ paid $1.25 an hour inst~;ad of the usual $1.~0 an hour.

An agreement was presented between the State of Montana, State Highwa~r
Commission, and the City of Laurel. This a~r~ement will give the City of Laurel
State monies from the gasoline tax to p~.y for the repair and eon~truetion of
streets in Laurel. This particular agre~men~ was drawn up for the purpose o~
receiving money on the bid the City' accepted from the Farmers Union Central
Exchange for liquid asphalt. Black made the motion that the agreement b~ ~I~
accepted and the Mayor be allowed to sign the agreement. Parker seconded and the motion carried. l

secretary be instructed to write you gentlemen to inform you that the
City Loca3~ #316 would like to meet with you. Tn regards to n~~o~,tions
of an increase in wa€;es of all City Employees.
This notice will s~rv~ a~ ample time as -per our working agreement. Pleaase lit us know who your eommitt~e will be ~o we can get under way.

Motion was made by Parker and seconded by Horning that the c~,nvas~ of kballots

Thy Ma~ror reported there is an abandon ear ~.t llfl Kurland Avenue;.
T.he owner has not begin able to be contacted and the Mayor stated that h~ and
the Chief of Police felt the ear should be impounded and tak~r~; to Smith
duper Service for storage to get it off the street. Thy Mayor also stated
that the rest of the cars the~~r are setting on the street should b~ taken
to Smiths or the salvage ~rard on Grind Avenue in Billings. The Mayor
appointed the Police Committee to work ww.th Tom Bradley on this matter.
Joe Nicholas would like to be relieved of the fob of pltunbing
inspector. Thy Mayor has not found anyone to take his place a~ yet.
Lyle Jones reported on thy: Air Pollution Program meeting; and once
main pr~sent~d an agreement to be approved by the Counc3.l. After di~cu$~ion, aouthworth made the motion ~.nd Parker seconded that the a~r~ement b~ approved.
Motion carried.
Mr. Clyde Bray addressed the Council stating that the dam the City
constructed above the landfill to keep water out of the landfill is e~.using
the water to back up and fZaod the road that go~;s into his ranch. Mr. Bray would, like to have the City remedy this situation immediately so he can use
the road. After discussion the Mayor appointed the Street and A11ey Committee
to work ~ti~h the City Engineer on this matter.
Lyle Jones reported on the Recreation Board Meeting. He ~ta~ed that
the board had decided to do away with the recreation department in the park.
He also stated that the-staff had been cut down and the lifeguards and basket girls were on a monthly salary. ~Ie added. that the Chairman i~ to be
paid $100.00 for the su~amer.
There was discussion on cleaning the Nutting Drain.
There was discussion about the various ~tre~ts to be sprinl~l~d this spring and summer. 1'
There was discussion about the water ling to the property glen Watts
is going to build a laundromat on.
Black ~ta~ed the garbage pick-up seems to be eomin~ along fins.
Black thanked everyone for the experience and help he received in
hip 2 terms on the City C~tuzeil.
Ebersviller reported h~ talked to the Harris Agency about the joint
bid between them and Williams A~eney on an insurance po].icy~ in 196.. He
Mated. that the two agencies ware to split the eomi~as on, however, Willi~.ms Agency'ha~ never received any kind of pa~m~nt from the Harris Agency. ~bersviller

goon that the policy would be taken away from them and liven to the Willi~.m~ Agency for the next five 3~ears. This su~g~stion seemed to be satisfactory with
the entire Council.
Eber~viller reported that the matter of flp~ning the N. P. Depot
was given to the road master$ wife far ;~12~.fl~ per month.
Jones made the motion that the curb cuts for the parking lot for
the Yellowstone Bank be apnrov~d. Parker seconded and the motion carried.
The Mayor Mated the he and the Cit~r Clerk would hire another girl
a~ Depu~~r Clerk in the office.
Clean up day was designated. as the last we~:k in April.
