December 1, 1970
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel,, Montana, was held in the Council Chambers, and w~.s c~.11ed to order by

The minutes of the previous meeting were read. There w~.s a
correction .from the floor that the resolution mentioned was not a City
County Planning study, but an Interlocal study. T~~ith this correction,
motion was made by 13~slanwiteh and seeond~d by Ebersviller, that the minutes be
approved as corrected. Motion c~.rri~d.
Cert~.in reports of the City of Laurel ~xere presented for approval
as follows: Libr~.ry report, Health officer's report, report of the sanitarian,
report of the Police Jude, and reports cif the patrolmen. .Motion way made
by Ebersviller end seconded by Jones that t'~ese reports be approved. Motion

The Mayor asked for a report from the committee appointed to
investi~~zt~ the Glen Sheets request to take certain property out of the I.
Cit~r Limits. Mr. L'bersviller reno~ted that he had not spoken to all owners
adjacent to this property, but has sp~aken to the minister of the Con~re~ational
t: Church. wh.o stated that he had called a meeting of the con~re~;ation~ and their
had voted unanimously to oppose such an action by the council. In view of this fact, Ebersviller reported-that the committee would reeomm~nd that
this request be denied. After discussion, motion wa.s made Tay Be5lanwiteh, i
and seconde~3 bTr parker that the recommendation of the committee be accepted.

Ebersviller then stated. th~.t this ?property adjoins the South Side Perk and would m~.ke a motion that this matter be turned over to the Park
Committee to investigate the ~aos~ibility of a purchase of part of this
nro~erty for the Park. Seconded ~y Jones. Mrs. Sheets then stated that this
" would necessaxil.y be a package deal of all or nothing sine they were nit I
t interested in se].lin~ just a portion of this property. Shc~ asked for a
Hermit to run horses on this property. After discussion, Ebersviller
p withdrew his motion, Jones withdrew hi_s second to the motion.

Bob Graham addressed thy; council and introduced a C. W. Jones, attorney, wha is the attorney for the people living in the Mountain Vista Subdivision.
~ '3radle~ stated that only the t~ronerty owners within 150 .feet, and across the ~I
street can ~arotest the action of this type proposed, and. also the amendment
to t~±e ordinance. The pro~r~sed. change in the Ordinance was read, with
?public hearing to be held on January ,~,th, 1971.
h The Mayor then called on the ladies renresentin~ the Lea~;uc~ of
Women Voters, in connection with the proposed resolution re~axding the Inter-
loaal study flan. After discussion, motion was made by Parker and see~nded bar 1,
Ebersviller that this pro?~osition be rejected.. Motion carried. ~

Beslanwiteh re?~orted that the case of the injury sustained by Donielle Ayers was being held open at the present time.

~ Parker reported that the burchasin~ committee had accepted the bid
of Jcshnson Ford, and that the order had been placed. for the acl.vertised. machiner~r.

~ ParkRr reported on the land=fill situation. He stated that the commercial b~a.sinesses outside the city limits had. agreed to the charges that
the City intAnd.s to make for their dumping. The City intends t~ eventually I
stop any sal.va~e operations, and immediately cover any and all ~arba~e and
trash. delivered to the 1andf3.11. He stated that there would need to be
k bigger and better equipment to do the fob. The date of April 1, 1971 way
~ considered as the tentative date to stop all salvage operations. Committee
is in a~resment for ~~tting the needed equipment right awa~r. Thy Health Department .s very critical of fires burning at the l~.ndfill. In conclusion, I
~ the committee felt that the lease agreement with the bounty should be signed
~ regarding the x].,500.00 per .year commitment with the County. Jones stated
<< that the City is in violation of the burning ordinances, with regard to
railroad ties. After discussion, motion was made b~ Parlor and seconded k~~r
Besl~.nwitch that the City sign the agreement with the county for this $1,500.00 der year. Motion carried.
i Parker stated that the ambulance is wa~tin~ for the approval from 1
the F.C.C. and for the radio equipment.
Daley asked for permission to advertise for a truck for the street department. Motion was m~.de b~ Beslanwitch and seconded by Jones that
permission be ~rante~. P~fotion carried.

Motion was made by Jones and secondec1. by Ebersviller that this resolution be

There being no .further business to come before the council at this t session, motion was duly made a.nd seconded that the meeting be adjourned.
