A re~?ular meeting; of the City Council of the City of Laurel, ~'t Montane, was held. in the Council Chambers, and way called to order by
Mayor Kenneth E. Olson, on Tuesday November 17, 1970.

The Mayor stated that we would dispense with th.e rea.din~ of the ~I

Vista Subdivision. Mace was told that this action would. be out of ord~;r ,i at this time. {
Minutes of the telephone meeting o~'l~ovember lath were read. Motion II

approved. Motion carried.

Mayor 5tatcsd that he would like to appoint a committee of Parker as
Chazrma.n, Ro~gerss and Jones, Yove~ich made this in the form of a motion end
with authority to act. Seconded b~T Eber~viller, Motion carried.

Certain reports of the City of Laurel were presented for approval,
C' as follows: Report of the Police Jude, reports of the patrolmen Libr~r r s Y
E? report, Treasurer's retort, City Clerk's trial balance, and Clerk's cash
report. Motion was made by Parker and seconded by Horning that these reports
be approved. P~T~tion carried.

Minutes. off' the City Council of Laurel
Mrs. Lena Sheets appeared before the council to request that Lots 1 through f3, in 'dock 1, and lots 1 through i.n ~31ock 2 0£ Sheets Subdiv~.~ion
be taken cut ~f the Cit~* limits. After discussions motion was made by
Ebersviller and seconded by Be5lanwitch that a committee be appointed. to
inv~sti~a.te this request, and to come ~zp with a recommendation at the newt
meetirla. Motion carried. The Mayor then stated that h~ would appoint ferry
('xass a.nd Ebersviller to this committee.
Phyllis C7regory ~.ncl other ladies r~presentint; the League of Women j
Voters appeared before the council to request eansid.~ra~ion of acity-county
consolidation ~tud~. After discussion, the Mayor thanked the ladies for
their time, and stated that the council would take this matter under con-
si~er~tion.
t l3ob Graham ~,nneared. before the council and ~.sked the Mayor and
council to allow five students to attend each council meeting. Ths Mayor
and. council agreed.

Mayor asked everyone to rise and sing Happp~ Anniversary to alderman
Yov€:tich who was eelebra.tin~ his 25~h wedding anniversary at the council meeting.
Horning stated. that the police committee wanted to recommend Robert
Manw~iler for the police force relief patrolman. Motion was made by
Eb~r~vill~r end seconded by Parker that R4an~aeiler be hired. Motion c~.r~ried.
N.ornin~ stated that the Awciliary Police wanted to appoint Henry
Rodri~u.ez and Charles Rymer Jr. to the Auxiliary Police. Motion to this effect
was made by B~~lanwitch and seconded bar Ebersviller. Motion carried. I
There was discussion as to Liability insurance re~ar~in~ Auxiliary
Police. T'~i5 matter to be investigated. Parker stated that the council should ~o on record ~4 supnortin~ the Auxiliary Police. He stated that he didn't
think enough credit was liven where it was due and mentioned the Pollee, the
A~iliary Police, the Firemen, and the Highway Patrolman stationed here.
He m.enti_oned that the ~'ir~ Department answers a call within four to five
minutes ~.nd 5hould.?~e given the 5tron~ gu~port of eeeryone.

Yove~ich eomplim~:nted the City Engineer on cleaning the ditc~i on Eighth Avenue.
Yovetieh stated that there had been an accident down at the Water I
Plant. He ~~.50 stated that Superintendent APVen wanted. to be taken off shift {
work, and b~ strictly on mainten~nc~.
Yovetieh r~~orted on the beet dump, and that there should. be a
cert~.in route established. He stated that he would also like ~o recommend
that the Sugar Compan~r re-locate outside the City limits.
Daley r~port~d on the land fill, and Mated that the railroad is
willing ~o go alc~n~ with the Citzr's charges.

Mayor stated that he would like to appoint Frank Smith to the k CPmetsry R~zxd tv _fil.l the vacancy caused by the death off' Mr. peter D.
r Thomson. Motion w~.s m~.de by ~3eslanwitch and seconded by Fb~:rsviller that
this anointment be androved. lotion carried.
There being no further business to come before the council at this
session, motion was duly made ~.nd seconded that the meeting be adjourned. Motion
carried.
