f' Are~ular meeting of the City Council of the City of 7.,aurel,
Montana, was held in the Council Chambers and was called to order by Mayor Kenneth E. Olson, at 7:30 o'clock, P.P~I., on Tuesday October 20, 1970. j
Upon taking poll call, the following; ald~,rmen answered present:
Roy Horning Gerald Gass E.H. Ebersv3.ller~ Sr. Chuck Rodgers
~7ohn Beslanwitch Zouie Yovetich
The minute of the previous meeting of October 6th were read. Motion
w~.s made by Beslanwi.tch and seconded by Horning that the minutes be approved
as read. Motion carried.
~ Certain reports of the City of Laurel, Montana, were presented f'or
~.pproval as follows. City Clerks Cash report, City Clerks trial balance, City Treaslzrers financial report, and. the S~.nitation report. Motion was made by
B~;slanwitch and. seconded byT Gass that these reports be approved.. Motion carried.

~ PARK LAN3~ TO THE FARMERS UNION CENTRAZ EXCHANGE, A MINNESOTA CORPORI~TION
Motion wa.s made by Ebersvill.er and seconded by Beslanwitch that this Resolution
be passed end adopted: and a lease be drawn up for a period of five (5) years
f at a rental of one Dollar (:$1.00}. Ur~on taking roll call vote all aldermen f present answered ~fa~e'~. Motion carried.

~4 L~~ Butler and Ralph Hettinger appeared before the Council on behalf
4' of the Great Western Super Co. in question o~ hflw to r~:solve some o~ the
problems which oceured last yeax at the beet dump. Mayor stated that our
utmost concern was the 21~ holas~ operation. Mr. Butler assured thy: Council that f, th~~r would not ober~.te during the night hours butt stated that they would like
to continue operation in the Laurel ~x~~a. The possibility of a weight limit
was discussed, ?3radl~y s-~ated that it would be a hardship on some of the
businesses 3.n town. After a lengthy discussion, motion was made by Ebersviller
and seconded by 13~slanwiteh that the committee be given more time to study
this matter along with rapres~ntatives from the sugar Co. Motion carried.
f ~ Dave Murray, Lour Evan~~ and. Bill Evans appeared before the Council
in regards to Blocks Two (2), Three (3), and Five (5) o~ Mountain Vista Sub- '
division. Murray requested that the letter from the Zoning Board of Adjustment
j' be read. Letter was read as follows r

Gentlemen:
Thy members of the Zoning ~3oard of Adjustment recommend that Blocks
'two, Three, and. Five, Mountain Vista Subdivision, b~ brought into the City
as R-l.

Murray stated that he wanted this property brought in with the ~stipul~,tion
that if the project fell through, he could .gain take it back out. Motion
~ was made by Beslanwi~ch and. seconded bar Ebersviller that the recommendation
F of the Zoning hoard b~ accepted, and Blocks 2~3, and of Mountain Vita
Subdivision b~! brought in Under an R-1 zones and if they are taken back out,
t the Real Estate Mart wi11. stand the cost. Motion carried. Bradley told Murray
that the, would have to circulate a y petition in order to grant a va,~iance and have a. bublic hearing for any protestors.
Horning asked if the Auxilary Police were covered under any Liability
Insurane~ while on duty. Horning referred to Merritt ~dilliam~. ~I ll
Horning reported tY~at the Police Gommitt~e was ready to ma~k~ a recommendation fir hiring a new policemen, but stated that the Union thinks
a City employ~e~ should have preference to an outsider. Mayor stated that if a
~ City ~!mployee could better himself, than he should be consid.~r~d:but qualifications ~
should. be liven soma thought. After discussion, this matter referred to the
' Police committ€~e for further study and. a recommendation at the next meeting. r
r, ~esl~,nwitch reported. that Bob Macro had called him and wanted to sill
a house on 6th Ave., but the ,yard next to it was such a mess that thy-part~r
would not burr it. lit 1rTard Aldermen to check this matter.

Mayor reported that there would be no council meeting on November 3, 1970 bee~.use of Election. i~
