-~..._.~~a.~ _ mot. - ~ ~ l.s~r ~ Minutes of the City Council of Laurel 5ept~mber l~, 1970 A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel, I' Montana, was held 3.n the Council Chambers and was called to order by President of the Council Gerald Gass, at 7:30 o'clock P.M., on Tuesday, September 1,~, 19?~. k Upon taking roll call the following aldermen answered present: Lyle Jones Jackson F. Parker E.H. Ebersviller, Sr. 4 John F3eslanwitch Charle~~ Rodbers The minutes of the previous meeting of September 1, 1970 wEr~ read. ~ Motion was made by ?3eslanwitch a.nd seconded by Jones that the minutes be a?~proved as read. Motion caxried. k' Certain reports of the City of Laurel, Montana, were presented for approval as follow : City Clerks Trial ~alanc~, City Clerks Cash report, City Treasurers financial report, health o~fic~rs report, and the County Sanitation report. Motion was ma.d~ by Beslanwitah and seconded by Parker ghat these reports be ~.or~roved. Motion carried. i J~.cksan Parker reported on the Ambulance and stated that the program a is progressing we11 but stressed the importance of avoiding any dela~r in order > to stay within ~,h~ grant period. Parker reported on 2 difE'erent companies ~I who could install the .radio equipment in the ambulance. Bradley stated that an~rtime you have contract for more than ~2~00 you should advertise for bids. Motion was made bar P~.rker and seconded by Beslanwitch that we advertise for bids for a two way radio system for the ambulance, to be opened on October 6, 1970. Motion carried. i Parlor stated th~.t h~ has had complaints about the street on Mount~.in View Lane being in such poor condition and that the drain was p1u~,~ed. After diselzssion this matter was referred to Daley. Jones reporte~3 that the Garbage Crew did a good ,job of clEaning up j the alleys. Janes reported that a letter Yeas been received from the County Commissioners stating that they would give u~ the dump if we would maintain it. The County would also grant us $1 00 for those people outside the City but inside the County. The City was also ~ivcn the authority to assess a i garbage rate to outside commercial usErs. The Committee to study this matter l? further: Ebersviller asked permission to le~.ve the state. Motion was made 4` by Jones ~.nd seconded b~ Beslanwitch that permission be granted. Motion carried. Fbersvill~r asked if the City wanted to give the kids working for us ~ under the College Work Study Program a bonus this ye~x. After much discussion 3, this matter referred to Ebersviller for further study, and a recommendation a a.t the next meeting. j ~ersviller asked what could b~ don~* to open South 5th Street between Yellowstone and Cedar Av~nu~. ?3radley stated that it would have to bE con- d.emned. After much discussion it was decided that Bradley would talk to { Garl 01son to see if we make him a reasonable offer if he would open phis street. 4 ` Ebersviller asked what has been done about heavy load trucks, and ~ urged action on an ordinanas governing the weight 1.mit of trucks allowed on 4' the City Streets. ~ t j, Da1.ey a.~;ked ~€~rmissi~n to leave the state. Motion was made by E Jones and seconc~~d by Fbersviller that permission be ~r~nted. Motion carried. Is j C` Daly reported on a study made by the 7onin~ Board of Adjustment. The Committee would 1ik~ to .mend the Zoning Ordinance to a11ow modular eon- structi~n in an R-1 zoned area. The party would nave to ~;et a factory inspection and the applicant would have to pa.y for this inspection. In this eonneetion~ moti ~n was made bar F3esl~nwitch and second~cl by Ebersviller that the ~rdin~.nc be amended and move-ons allowed. Motion carried. k There b~in~ no further business to come before the council at this j session, motion was duly made and seconded that the meeting be adjourned.
