Olsen at 7:3~ o'clock, P.M., on Tuesday, June 16th, 197tJ. k; it Upon taking roll c~.ll the foll~aing aldermen answered present: << Rod Horning Jackson T'arker E.H. Ebersviller Sr. Louie Yovetiah Jahn Beslanwitch I The minutes of the previous regular meeting of May 19th were read. Motion was made by Ebersviller and seconded by Beslanwitch that t~e,~e minutes be approved as read. Motion parried. II I` The rninute~ of the special meeting of May 27th were read. Motion a, i, 4;, was made by Jackson Parker and seconded by Ebersviller that these minutes be ''i approved as read. Motion carried. 't ~ I The minute of the Special meeting of June 3rd were read. Motion ~ ~ was made by Eber~vi~.l~r and seconded by Jackson Parker that the minutes be apbraved as r~~d. Motion carried. ~f This being the time and place ~dv~rtised for the opening of bids for crushed gravel, pit run and stone chips, the City Clerk was asked to open and reed any such bids received. Motion carried. a Certain other reports of the City of Laurel were presented for approval as follows: Report of the Sanitarian, Library report, Health Of'ficer's Report, Treasurer's Financial Report, City Clerk's Trial Balance, and Cash Report. Motion was made by Beslanwi~ch and seconded by Ebersvill~r that these reports be approved. Motion carried. City Treasurer offered a report on delinquent licenses which brought on a. lengthy d~~cussion of license fees, police protection and other things. Nation carried. app e t s P s r h j Since there were no ob~eetions t~ resolution No. 1378 proposing to extend the~~i~~;Lim~ts o~ the City of Laurel tc~ include certain property, the following resolution was presented: RESOLUTION N0. 1379 RESOLUTION N0. 1379, BEING A RESOLUTION EvTENAING THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY QF LAUREL, MOATTANA, TO SNCLUDE ALZ OF LOTS ONE (1) THROUGH TWEN'PY (20) IN BIA~K FOUR OF `SHE MOURtTAIN VISTA SUBDIVISION. Motion was thin ~ i I made by Jackson Parker and seconded by Beslanwi.tch that this resolution b~ duly P: ~1 passed a,nd adopted. Motion carried. Request was presented from tY~e J.C.'s for the use of Athletic Park for the evening of Jul~r 28th for a donkey baseball game. After discussion, motion was made by F'bersviller and seconded by Jackson Parker that permission be granted far the usual fee of $$.00 per hour for the use of the lights, provided th~.t there were no other previous arran~eme~ts for the park for thet particular evening. Motion carried. Thy mayor stated that the weed-control program should be started this a year, and that the City should clean up all its own city property before asking { the other residents to cut them weeds. I f _ _ Horning sated that the Utility Gampanies were not putting ~treet~ ana ~I alleys back in the~~ original condition. Them was discussion a5 to having the city crews repair the streets and alleys that were not left in proper eondit~ox~, and to send the bill to the company. i It was sut~~ested that the insect spray program should be ~tart~d earlier ~ this year. Horning Mated that peti~Gions were out,, .;petitioning the City to leave ~3~e~:r property out of the program. Persons who were requesting that I' their property be le£t along. Them was much discussion of this matter, among other things, that this would defeat the purpose of the spray program. Bradley' y t and others reported that the State Board of Health approves of the tyg~ of spr~.y that we are using and that it does not harm.birdg~ people, or shrubbery. This would also present a tax problem, since the charge would have to be deleted from ~ the taxes of the exempt properties. It was sug~est~d that the program ~;o on as ~ usual this year, and in April arrangements sho~.ld be made to place this matter on f the ballot. i Horning asked permission to leave the St~.te. Motion was made by Yov~tich and sec~anded by Beslanwitch that permission be ~rant~d. Motion carried. All ald~rm~n present had received complaints about the doffs running loos. One lady complained that big doh had b~r~e3 a ham in her cucumbers. Parker stated h~ had received many complaints that residential streets li ware racy tracks. h ~I Parl~er also reported complaints on ditches. I -.,.r. j~ j I ~I ~'~I f ail Minutes of the City Council of Laurel ~r Park~;r reported on the ambulanee~ and asking for a copy o~ the County ~T Attorney's opinion regarding County participation. Bradl~~r reported on this and stated that he would dictate a letter asking for this opinion. Ebersviller asked perm~_ss on to leave the state. Motion was made by Farker and seconded by Horning that permission be granted. Motion granted. Eber~viller reported certain culverts that were smashed or plugged, ;r' ~I causing a certain amount of flavding during and after a heav3r rain. He will talk to the City Engineer about these. ~ Th Ma or stated that he had a r~ uest from Paul Wold for the Street e Y I~ and Alley Committee to meet Frith him, and discuss repairs to the alley between Second and Third Streets,, b~hing Roysdon's, Laur~1 Servic~nter and Lenox Ik';,, apartments, and also near the Merehaats apartments.
