After the press h~.d taken p3.ctures, motion was made end seconded that a liter of than~C- you b~ sent to the Oil Workers' Union. Motion carried. Jackson Parker asked the City Attorney for a report in regard to the County Commissioners and the Sanitary Landfill. Bradley Mated th~.t ~e had been in contact with the County Attorney who Mated that the County~Co~n~missioners desiresd his written opinion. The County Attorney statea teat ne Y:elt ~nati ~n~ Commissioners had the suthorit~r to subdivide this propert~r and levy for the purpose of maintaining the landfill. However h~ stated ghat h~ had not yet had time to write the opinion for the cominissioner~. Walt Parker repor~~d that while the committee invest~.gati~~ the amount of dumping at the landfill, they had not as yet, come up with any concrete figures. He stated that the Northern Pacific and the ~'€~rrners Union are hauling ~ twice a~ much as the entire City of I,~.urel. Thy commit~~~ and the C3.ty Engineer are to try to come up with a percentage, and will thew discuss a definite charge with th~~e two companies, which. have both exprtsred their willingness to pay their share for main~enax~c~ of -the landfill. Yovetieh brought up the sub~~ct of storm drains ~o relieve the down water problem. There wa.~ much di.scu~sion. Yov~ti~h brought up the subject of the break-ins in the business district, and suggested a foot patrolman. There was much discussion ~.s to having another Deputy Sheriffs and Highway ~'atrolman stationed hire in Laurel. k Ron Hatcher appeared before the council to discuss the rep~.ir~ s~xi t~~ ~ Swimming pool, and them way much discussion on the purchase of a new filter for the pool that will pays the-State Board of Health Standard~c. D~.1ey i~ working on this. Daniel-Woods who was hired a~ Head li~egu.ard wants ~or~ money than the $32~.0~ offend.
