Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
January 6, 197a {
A. regular meeting of the pity council of the City of Laurel, Montana
was held in the Council Cham~aers and was called to orc~.er by Mayor I4enneth E.
Olson, at ?:3~ oiclock P.M. on Tuesday, January 6, i97o•
Upon taking roll call the following aldermen an~~,aered present:

.Minutes of the previous meeting of December 16~ 19b9 were read. Motion was made by Ebersvil er and seconded. by B~~:Lanwitch that the minutes be approved
as read. Motion carried. a
Certain reports of the Gity of T~aurel, Montana were presented for
approval a~ follows: Police Jude report, reports of the patrolmen, and the
Library ret~ort~. Motion wa.s made by Beslanwitch and seconded by Jackson Parker ~ that the reports be approved. Motion carried.
Claims for the month of December were presented for payment as follows:

Motion was made by F_,bersviller and seconded by B~slanwitch that the claims be
allowed. Motion car~~ied. l
4 Fd Stowe, County Sanitarian, and G.E. Wadington~ Yellowstone County ~~ir Pollution Director, appeared before the council to report on the pollution
si..tuation and what they were planning to do to control open burning.
RenresPnta.tives from the Jaycees appeared. before the Counci3_ to hear
from the dark Cormni.ttee zn regards to th~+ Jaycees using Riverside Hall as a
meet_n~ place. Beslanwitch repcrfi,ed that the P~rkC,ommittee met witY± the Ja..ycPPS and stated that M.T.U. and Mon-~ana Power would fur. nigh the meters if
the Jaycees would install them. The Jaycees would then pay for the gas and
1i~hts used and have permissic~r_ tc build lockers to keep their belongings 3.n.
The Jaycees would ~l.so have the respon5i.bility for the upkeep to this part of the ;j
building. After much disrzzssion, motion was made by Jackson Parkex^~. end seconded 1
by Beslanwiteh for a concurrence of the Park Committeefs report. Motion carried. ~
Gayle Kautz and Joan Markoviteh a~pear~d before the ?ouncil to
inquire about what was ?~ei..ng done about cable T.V. ~3radley stated that the
Company has a City Licenses and are planning to set up communications in Laurel
within -the next ~'ew months .
1~Ir. & Mrs. Huff main appeared before the council in conn~etion with
the garbage question. Aldermen Yov~tich began a report on the garbage rates
and was interruped by Mr. duff, at T~thi.ch point the Mayor discontinued the garbage
discussion for the remainder of the evening.
Horning reported that an ordinance would h~.ve to b~; drawn up for snow-
m.obil~ traffic in Laure. This matter tvsn~d over to the- Pi~lice Committee and City Attorney to comp up with=a recommendation.

Jackson Parkar reported that he ha.d received the final revision for
the F~i~hway Safety Grant.
kyle Jones reported some complaints about the hump on 5~h Ave. Yovetich st~a.ted that the Hump was put i.n the wrong place and ~hala.ld b~ takEn out.
Fbersviller asked if it would be possible for the city to put up a
shack for the ska.tPr at th.e pond out by the old Glacier Theai;re. Mayor stated
that the property does not belong to the City. i
vovet3.ch reported that Fred Feurbaeker had ca.~_led him and staffed that
there were some busin~ss~s i.n Bil],i_n~5 that t~aanted to contribute some money to
tha Le~i_~n Ratl C;1t~b and .n rPtl~r. n nu~h ~~n a sign for advertisement in the ba11
- o - park. 4fter much discussion this matter turned over to the park committee to
work ~a3_th the Legion and the Jaycees .
Daley stated that he would ]_ike to advertise for bid:~:~:for a new
chassis fox the dump truck. Mot~,ion was made by B~slanwitch and seconded by
Jackson Parker that, Daly ~o ahead a.nd advertise. Motion carried.
P~Iayor stated that the Highway Department was going to be here an
TrTednesday January 7, at L•C~0 p.M. to discuss Nighwa.y Sign Encroachm~;nt. The
Mayor encouraged Daley and all the l~ldermen to be present if a~ a.ll possible. ~
