4 Minutes of the City Council of Laurel

_4 R.e~u1~r meting of the City Council of the City of Laurel,
Montana, was held in the Council Chambers, and was called to order Y~y Mayflr Kanneth E. 01son, at 7.3fl o'clock, P.A?., on Tuesday, February 16~
1971.
Upon taking; roll c~.11, the follotia-ing aldermen answered present:
Roy Horning ~Tackson Parker L;~lle Jones Gerald Gass E.H. ~bersviller, Sr.
John Beslanwitch Chuck uod~ers Louie Yavetich
Mirna-t~s of the brevious m~etin~ were read. Mot-?on was made by Beslanwitch j
and sec:?nded by Rad~ers that the minutes be approved as read. Motion
carried.
Request from the Girl Scouts for the P?tayor to ~rocl.a.i.m Girl Scout week, Mo-t~ion was made by EbPr.sviller and seconded by Reslanwitch
that the Mayor sign tris broc1_amation. Motion carried.

carried.

The Mayor rP~orted. that the Optimist Club would like permission
to na.int house numb~r~ on the curbs. After discussion, motion was made by
Fbersviller and. seconded by ~ieslanwitch that permission be ~;r~.nt~d. Motion
f carried.
f _ The Mayor asked for a report ~n the ?areposed. li_~htin~ district.
Pa.rk~r and Yovetict~ bath reported on this.
It was su~~est~d that a letter be written to the Cable T.V. concern
a.skinc~ for a ~r~~?ress r~~ort.
~ _ Fbersviller reported that the committee on p~rsonne]_ had met, and
was recomm~ndinP an increase in salary for the Mayor, from $200.00 per month ~
to ~2~0.00; .for the Police Jud.~e from <~160.00 per month to X200.00; for the
aldermen f'rorn ~50.OQ per month to `~75.OC1, and to drop the ` 10.00 der month
car allowance. ~'~otion was then ma.~e by BeslanTrritch and. seconded b-~r Horning that the recommenda.ti~n of the committee be a.:~proveci, and. an ord.inanee to
this effect drawn u~~. I~';otion carried.

He also repor+ed a huznn in front ~f 50~? Cottonwood in front of
this person's driveway. This matter wa.s r~fe>rred to the City Fn~in~er.
Rod~?~rs re~c~rted that the owners of the Bi S Trailer Court r , _ ~ ky
wire still requesting a fire hydrant, in their vicinity. This was discussed. f
Yovetich reported. that he doubted if the Montana League of Cities ~
and Towns T~ras being very e~'f_ective this term.

i Gaston asked for a remodeling job at the police station, a.nd
st~.tPd that he felt the time w~.s coming when the radio apprators would
eventually ~e replaced with women. { 'i
There being no further 'ousiness to come before the council at this
session, motion was duly made a.n.d seconded that the meeting be adjourned.
