Certain reports of the City ~f Laurel, were presented for approval as follows ~~ibrary Reports Pol~.ce Reports, and Health pfficers Report. Motion
was made by Horning and seconded by BesZanwitch that these reports b~ approved.
Motion carried.

in the Zoning Code of the City of Laurel be made, sa3_d changes as follows:

Residents from this area appeared before the council in protest to C' this grdinance. They fear that the ~inendment wi11. tend to a.11ow cheaper
homes to be built in the ax~a~ overall 7_owering the value of their homes.
Bradley suggested that perhaps the bui?ding code r~quirem~nt for the R1. zoned
~r~~ should be upgraded. Daley gtat~d that be~'~rc~ these houses can be moved
on, an inspection is neceg~ary by the Billings Building D~pto, and the
r builder is responsible for the fee. Motion wa made by Beglan~ri.tch and f, seconded by Jackson Parker that Ordinance ~~89 am.ending the zoning ordinance

Yovetieh reported that the water plant was in good shapes and the new intake peer was working will in taking care of the slush ice problem.

~ Yovetich complimented the Police Department on an especially good
f~ fob during the Holiday season.
k Yovetich reported that, th€~ Light and Water Committee will meet with rriembers off' the Laurel Federated Woma.n~s ~l.ub coneern3_ng their proposed utter
' lighting district ~ro~ect. If` the club so desires, steps will be taken to get
k the issue on the ballot. Putting it on the ballot would prove to be very
costly and several alderman fear 3_t may fail.

Motion was made by Yovetich and seconded bg ~ber~viller that a

a detailed. study cyan k~e made. Motion carried. a:
k Fbersviller reported that we have a. n~w1y elected Sheriff for h the bounty, and ~roul~ like letter written to him requesting that Laurel
retain itt~ present Deputy. Motion w~.s made by Beslanwi.~ch and seconded
b~T ?arker that a letter b~ written requesting the r~tainment of ~;aurel~s
'J deputy Sheriff and, if possibl.e~ the appointment of a second Deputy
Sheriff for the Lauxel ~.rea. Motion carried.
r` Parker reported that the ambulance went into effect 1 minute
after Midnight Dec~;mber 31~ 197. Parker resented a p proposal for
schedule of charges for the City Ambulance 5~;rvice as follows.

Schedule of Charges:
Base Charge ~,30,Q0
Mileage 1,00 per loaded mile
All passengers pay the same charge as one person does.
Sit up persons pay half charge.
No extra charges for oxygen, emergency ca11s, etc.

l Parker suggested that the Ambulane~ Committee would like to recommend
F that proposal #~2 be accepted for the Schedule of Ch~rg~~. Motion was made by
Parker and seconded by ~bersvill~r that Schedule #2 be aceept~d. Motion carried. j
Parker also re orted that the { p purchasing Cornmtte~ awarded the bid to Fichtner Cheverolet for the new truck for the str~~t Department.

Parker reported fetter operation at the landfill and stated that
~ salvaging operations have bean di$continu~d. Daley stated that members of the
I C3.ty Crew have been using rsnt~d machinery to cover th~+ ~;axba~~,
Horn3.n re orted that the p police Department received a grant from the
Governors Grime Control pro€_;rram for €~ome walk3.e talkies for the Police Depart-
merit.
Mayor reported that Riverside Park was in need of repair and stated
that the Taurel Jaycees and M. D. U. were wi113_ng to help since they also use
the ha11. Motion was ma~.e ley Beslanwi.teh to discontinue all public dances.
After discussion Bes~anwitch withdrew his motion, and daze to remodeling plan,
the hall will be dosed for some time.
~1 Mayor reportad that he has had only good. reports from the people on
the South Side conc~rnin~ the beet dump.
f Ted John~son~ a member of the zoning Board of Adjustment, who is ~~ne for the winter, made a pro~o~al that ~,f; his services were needed he would re-
k sign. Mayor stq.ted that he would like to accept Johnson~s resignation and
4 appoint Merritt Willi~m~ ~o take his place. Motion was made by Beslanwitch and
second~;d bar Ebersviller that Merritt Williams be appointed to take Johnson's place
can the Bonin Board. Motion carried. ~;ett~r of thank you to be written to
Ted Johnson.
